Detailed
A conical cable sealing case is a tapered rubber boot that closes the point where a cable enters a panel, enclosure or connector. The tapered body squeezes against the sheath as the cable passes through, so one part seals a range of cable diameters and keeps dust and debris out of the housing behind it.
This case is molded in EPDM rubber and supplied for M12 threaded entries, covering cables from 4 mm to 7 mm in diameter. It weighs 3 g, comes in grey or black, and is a stock item — sample quantities ship without a tooling cycle, in retail or wholesale packing.

Dimensions are shown in the product images. For a cable outside the 4–7 mm range, or a thread other than M12, we mold a custom size — send the cable OD and thread spec and we will quote the tooling together with the unit price.
The reusable construction means the same case can be cleaned and refitted if the cable is later replaced with one of a similar diameter.
EPDM is a synthetic rubber with high elasticity and good recovery, which is what makes it useful in a compression seal: the material has to keep pushing back against the cable for years, not just hold a shape once.
The grade used here is chosen for outdoor and industrial cable entries, where the dominant stresses are weather, water and ozone rather than extremes of heat. The working range of roughly −40 °C to 125 °C covers the vast majority of panel and enclosure installations.
If your priority is a temperature ceiling well above that, or a colour or food-contact grade that EPDM cannot deliver, the right answer is probably silicone rather than EPDM — see the comparison below.
Both seal, but they are not interchangeable. The choice usually comes down to what the joint has to survive.
| Consideration | EPDM | Silicone |
|---|---|---|
| Weather and ozone resistance | Excellent — the reason it is used outdoors | Excellent |
| Water and steam resistance | Very good | Good |
| Temperature ceiling | Moderate (approx. 125 °C) | Higher — suits high-heat applications |
| Colour options | Limited (grey, black, and some custom shades) | Wide range, including translucent |
| Food and medical grades | Not typical | Widely available (platinum-cured, FDA/LFGB) |
| Relative cost | Lower | Higher |
| Typical use | Outdoor cable entries, HVAC, automotive weatherstrip | Medical, food contact, high-temperature seals |

If any of those describe the job, tell us the actual conditions — we would rather quote the correct part than sell the wrong one.
This listing covers the standard grey M12 case from stock. Beyond that, the usual custom route is a different thread size, a different cable range, a specified EPDM grade, or a colour matched to your own product line.
How that runs from enquiry to shipment is set out in our custom rubber product service process — drawing review, tooling, sampling and production. For the wider picture of what can be varied on a moulded rubber part, see customization options for moulded rubber products, and for how the moulding floor itself works, the factory video shows the presses and finishing stations.
4 mm to 7 mm. If your cable sits outside that window, the tapered body will not seal properly — send us the cable OD and we will quote a custom mould instead.
Yes — EPDM is chosen precisely for outdoor work because it resists weathering, ozone and water. The working range is approximately −40 °C to 125 °C.
Grey and black are standard. Other colours and thread sizes are made to order, and the tooling requirement depends on the change — send the target spec and quantity for a quote.
Yes. Standard cases ship from stock in Opp bag packing, so a sample can be sent without waiting on a tooling cycle.
A similar EPDM part for a different entry type is the dust-proof EPDM conical thread protective cap — same material and taper, sized for tower-type entries rather than a cable pass-through.
Tell us the cable outer diameter, the thread size and the quantity you need. If the standard M12 case fits, we will confirm stock; if it does not, we will quote the custom mould.
